Background

In 2023, two tech professionals from Bengaluru, India, fell victim to an "Earn Big from Easy Tasks" scam. The scammers approached them with an enticing offer to make quick money by completing simple online tasks, such as liking YouTube videos and writing reviews. Initially, the victims received small payments for these tasks, which built their trust in the scheme.

The Scam Unfolds

The scammers, posing as representatives of a legitimate company, contacted the victims through WhatsApp and Telegram. They provided detailed instructions and even paid small amounts for the initial tasks, creating an illusion of legitimacy. As the victims became more invested, the scammers introduced the idea of unlocking higher earning tasks by making an upfront investment.

Investment and Loss

Believing in the promise of higher returns, the victims invested a total of ₹95 lakhs. The scammers continued to pressure them to invest more money, using emotional manipulation and creating a sense of urgency. Eventually, when the victims tried to withdraw their earnings, the scammers disappeared, leaving them with significant financial losses.

This case study underscores the importance of vigilance and verification in preventing such scams. Stay informed and protect yourself from falling victim to these fraudulent schemes.
