What is Password?
A password is a secret string of characters that acts like a key to your digital accounts and devices. It verifies your identity and restricts access to unauthorized users.
- Why Passwords are important
• Function: Passwords act as a first line of defence for your online security. They control access to your email, social media accounts, bank accounts, and other places where your personal information might be stored.
• Security: Strong, unique passwords make it much harder for hackers to steal your data or impersonate you online.
• Composition: Ideally, passwords should be a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. They should be at least 12 characters long and avoid any dictionary words or personal information like birthdays or addresses.
• Uniqueness: It's important to use different passwords for different accounts. This way, if a hacker breaches one of your accounts, they won't be able to access all of them using the same password.
