Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally on the second Tuesday of February to raise awareness and promote safe & responsible use of the internet, especially for children and young people. Each year Safer Internet Day also aims to raise awareness about emerging online issues and current concerns. This year, the Safer Internet Day is going to be celebrated on 11th February 2025 under the theme of "Together for a Better Internet".
MeitY is implementing the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase-III with a targeted approach for the development of human resources for safe, trusted and secure cyber space. The project includes a component of creating mass awareness on cyber hygiene and cyber security (Cyber Aware Digital Naagrik) targeting school children & teachers, college students & faculty, women, specially abled, senior citizens, government employees, MSMEs, other non-IT users, CSCs, NGOs, CSOs, etc. through various awareness activities in direct/indirect mode. C-DAC Hyderabad is designated as a nodal agency for creating mass awareness.
Under the ISEA Project, it is proposed to organize a massive awareness campaign at Pan India level on this year’s ‘Safer Internet Day’ i.e. on 11th February 2025. The following awareness activities are proposed to be organized to sensitize diverse internet users about safe use of internet, promote best practices for cyber hygiene, educate users about major cyber threats & mitigation techniques and encourage responsible use of internet among the citizens. It is also proposed to celebrate the Safer Internet Day annually under the aegis of ISEA Project. A brief snapshot of the awareness activities proposed to be organized are enclosed below:
