Scammers can attempt to put the user’s device and data under risk by tricking users into downloading malicious apps. Some warning signs that can indicate if an app may be malicious are listed here:

Unexpected or unknown messages or emails with convincing content and a link to click on, that can lead to installation of malware or a malicious app.

Unexplained requests by apps for change in permissions or device settings

When an app requests its users to make changes in device settings or provide some extra permissions, without any explanation for the same it is a warning sign. Usually requests made by harmful apps are often unexplained or don’t make sense.

They seem too good to be true

Usually malicious apps may promise things that seem too good to be true, to   attract users and get them to download the app. Harmful apps can claim to improve the performance of the device, or make offer/s or provide content that users would  pay for.

Spelling & grammar mistakes

Digital users should understand that legitimate and authentic organizations would properly look into quality requirement and recheck the content before its published.  Therefore if users observe messages and apps that have spelling and grammar errors, it must be a warning sign of being malicious app.
